The NEC Website was most recently updated on May 9, 2008.

May 9, 2008, Today I updated the links on the "Link" page and the resources all are connected to the DB Link files now just click directly on the blue link and it will take you to that item.

March 27, 2008. Today I updated the Events Calendar.

We are updating links our our website. We have fixed all the attachments to our website they should all open know. If you find something doesn't work please email me at NEC@Perkins.org and let me know what it is that you found not working. We have uploaded our latest Child Registration Packet making it easier for anyone to refer a child. please go to the Referral page and click on registration packet. You can download as many forms as you wish and refer a child to us for services from the states of CT, ME, MA, NH!

December 15, 2006.  We are working on updating document links that where broken. We are adding the link to the CVI Advisor Website at Perkins School for the Blind as well as fixing the link to the Hearing Webinar and updating the NEC Calendar.

Please see the updated “Save the Dates” as well as the Survey was added for 2006 in both English and Spanish versions.

June 16, 2005. We are adding the next Summer Institute Training Brochure.

May 11, 2005. Please see the attached "Save the Dates" section for upcoming dates of our Webinar and Summer Institute. Also, updated the NEC Calendar.


February 14, 2005. We are trying to update some of the broken links to this website. Please be patient as this website is temporarily under repair. We are adding recent trainings.


February 4, 2005. Addition of the Assistive Device Center Trainings have been added in the Events section.


November 18, 2004. Several updates have been made. The Events was updated. The Links where updated. The e-Advisor was added to the website under the Links section. We have also updated the Referral page with forms to download to register a child.


June 15, 2004. Several updates have been made regarding contact information on the Consultants page. We have also new Events updated. As well as the most recent newsletter is posted on the Resources page.


March 14, 2004: Several needed updates have been made. The Events page has been updated to include events for the upcoming spring and summer. The Winter NEC newsletter has been posted on the Resources page. NEC Contact information has also been updated.


July 17, 2003: A new announcement has been posted on the MADBFA page. Also, we are making some small changes to the web page in order to comply with Bobby Approval.


July 8, 2003: A legislative alert has been posted on the MADBFA page.


June 17, 2003: Online registration for "Creating Communication Portfolios for Deafblind Children and/or Children with Multiple Disabilities: Opening the Door to Life's Opportunities!" is now available. Please view the description of the training from the Events page to register.


June 5, 2003: Information on the 2003 Summer Institute has been updated at the Events page. Also, the Events page has been updated to coincide with the end of May.


May 22, 2003: Information has been added on two upcoming events. The first is the Perkins Outreach/NEC Summer Institute (June 22-26): "Assessment of Children with Multiple Disabilities or Who Are Deafblind (Part 2): Critical Issues Across Home, School, and Community Environments." The second is "Legal and Future Care Planning - Trainings" (June 21). Topics for this training include estate planning, guardianship, health care, and other issues. For more information on these events, please visit the Events page.


May 13, 2003: Connections submissions now allow the inclusion of your name and location. Including these fields may allow NEC Educational Consultants and Family Specialists to respond to questions specific to your location. Including your name and/or location with a Connections submission is optional.


May 2, 2003: Several significant updates have been made today to the NEC site:

  • The Spring issue of In Touch is available for download from the Resources page. If you are on the NEC mailing list, you should be receiving your copy in the mail soon.
  • Links to DB-LINK publications, fact sheets, and other resources have been added to the Resources page. These documents contain information on many topics related to deafblindness.
  • The Links page has been updated to include links to sites providing information specific to CHARGE and Usher's Syndrome.
  • The Events page has been updated to coincide with the end of April. Also, information has been added about "Creating Communication Portfolios for Deafblind Children and/or Children with Multiple Disabilities: Opening the Door to Life's Opportunities!" which will take place in six Massachusetts regions this fall. Online registration for this training will be available soon.
  • The Massachusetts Deafblind Family Alliance has a Special Announcement! Also, information about the next meeting on May 13 has been added to the MADBFA page.
  • Remember that you can interact with parents, professionals, and NEC staff by using Connections and you can submit an event for posting on the NEC site from the Events page.

April 11, 2003: A few weeks ago, our first submissions were posted to Connections. We encourage all visitors to the NEC site to take part in these discussion forums. In addition, several new announcements have been added to the Massachusetts Deafblind Family Alliance page. Also, the next MADBFA meeting has been scheduled for May 13, 2003.


March 27, 2003: Several updates and additions have been made to the NEC Website.

First, we have added two new sections. The first is Connections - the NEC Forum for parents and families, teachers and professionals, and NEC Educational Consultants to communicate and discuss several topics. The second is Parents and Families, which provides information and announcements related to parent and family associations in Maine (Maine Parent Foundation) and Massachusetts (Massachusetts Deafblind Family Alliance). We are hoping to add parent information for family associations in Connecticut and New Hampshire soon.

Second, the events page has been updated to include recently added events, a color-coded "target audience" for each event, and event descriptions for some of the events. You may now also submit a new event from the events page.

Third, the registration packet has been added to the NEC site. If you have a child you would like to refer to NEC, please visit the referral page to download the packet and read the instructions for registration with NEC.


March 12, 2003: Three new links have been added: Link Maine (Local and Regional Resources), Maine Parent Federation (Family Resources), and Hot Braille (Commercial Sites).


March 3, 2003: Two Infant Brochures have been added to the site. They are available from the Resources page.


February 27, 2003: The New England Center has updated and relaunched its website with new information and a new site design. Please use the navigation links on the left side of the page to explore the redesigned site.
